installed between May 1669 and August 1670.
Sculptor
- Lazzaro Morelli Morelli carved this statue as part of a
homogeneous group which includes numbers (111) to (115)
Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The pope holds his cope
with his left hand, and his right holds a bowl in memory of
the baptism of the Emperor Constantine.
During
his pontificate, Constantine founded several churches in Rome
- St John Lateran, Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and Old St
Peter's. Though some art in Rome depicts him baptizing
Constantine, the emperor was baptized at Nicomedia in Turkey,
after this pope had died.
