- Sillano Sillani He received a down payment of 20 scudi
in November 1702, and the balance of 60 scudi in July 1703.
Among the various works made or restored by Sillani, this is
the only know example. There are documented activities
of his restoration work of antique marbles for the Chigi.
Statue
created - c.1702-1703 On 13 January 1702, the artist
committed to the statue, and delivered it on 19 April 1703.
Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The saint is represented
in simple dress tied at the waist. The right hand rests
on the chest, while the left holds the palm of martyrdom.
The
tradition identifies Constance and Felix as brother and sister
who were martyred during the persecution of Nero. Because of
conflicts in the ancient sources, their historical details are
uncertain. Their names have been removed from the 2004
Roman Martyrology.
