- Nicola Artusi He entered into a contract with the
Fabbrica on 5 June, 1702. The payment of 80 scudi was
made in two installments; the first of 20 scudi was on 29
November, and the balance on 28 February 1703.
Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The saint is depicted in
traditional Augustinian habit, and with a star in the middle
of his chest.
Nicholas of Tolentino, an Augustinian friar
and mystic, is known as the Patron of Holy Souls. He was the first Augustinian to be canonized.
The Roman Martyrology states that he was dedicated to very
strick abstinence and devoted to prayer. He was severe with
himself and kind to others, continually imposing penances on
himself for the faults of others.
