Simplicius, Faustina and Beatrice are a group of martyrs who
died in Rome during the Diocletian persecution. They are
remembered in the Hieronymite Martyrology on 29 July, but
because of limited information are excluded from the General
Roman Calendar.
The Roman Martyrology 2004 has a revised entry as: "Rome, at
the third milestone on the Via Portuense, in the catacomb of
Generosa, SS Simplicius, Faustinus, Viatrix and Rufus,
martyrs." Therefore, Beatrix is thought to be a manuscript
corruption of the name Viatrix.
