created - c.1671 This statue is part of a group of 16 that were
installed between August 1670 and March 1673.

- Lazzaro Morelli This statue is cited along with St
Philip Benizi (123) and St Charles Borromeo (125) in the final

Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The Franciscan saint, with
ecstatic expression, carries the child Jesus in his arms. The

St. Anthony of Padua
was from Lisbon and became a priest of the Franciscian order.
Known for his forceful preaching and expert knowledge of
scripture, he was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1846,
largely because he helped to overcome an anti-intellectual
bias among the early Franciscans.
He is the patron saint of finding things or lost people.
