Statue
created - 1703 On 14 January 1703 Baratta undertook to
execute the statue which he delivered on 10 March.
Sculptor
- Giovanni Maria Baratta He received a payment of 80
scudi in 1703. This is his only known work.
Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The saint is depicted in
bishop's robes. His right hand is raised in blessing and
his left holds the palm. The work shows some technical skill
and originality.
He was a companion and disciple of St Paul, who became
the bishop of Ephesus. He is the recipient of the
Epistle to Timothy.
