Statue created - c.1702-1703
Protopapa received 80 scudi for work on the statue from November 1702 to December 1703.

Sculptor - Girolamo Protopapa
This is the only known work of the sculptor.  The artistic opinion has not been favorable due to the heavy structure of this statue.

Height - 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine
The saint wearing the Dominican habit, holds the open book of his Summa in his left hand.  His right hand stretches toward St Peter's Basilica, and on his chest is a radiated sun.

The Dominican priest is considered the Church's greatest philosopher and theologian. He is known as the "Angelic Doctor".
