that were installed between September 1662 and March 1667.

- Lazzaro Morelli Attributed to Morelli because of the
connection with the statues of St Dionysus (96) and St Romanus

Height
- 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine The saint is represented
as a young Roman soldier. He has a head of curly hair that is
lifted to the sky. The left hand is brought to his
chest, while the right holds a palm of martyrdom, now
deteriorated.
The
only reliable information that we have about St Theodore is
that he was a martyr in the early 4th century. The Roman
Martyrology mentions a speech by St Gregory of Nyssa that
reads, "At Amases on the Hellespont, the passion of St
Theodore Tyro, who was thoroughly beaten for adhering to
Christianity in the reign of the emperor Maximian and then
burned."
