St
Fabian was created Pope in 230 and died in prison in 250, under the
persecution of Decius. He is famous for the legendary
circumstances of his papal election, where a dove descended
upon his head. His feastday is when he was buried in the
catacombs of Callixtus, and St Cyprian provided an extant
eulogy.
